Activities of 2023-24

 1. International Democracy Day (22-9-2023)

 

The Department celebrated international Democracy day. On this occasion students read and took oath the preamble of Indian constitution. According to the United Nations this year’s theme, ‘Empowering the next generation, focuses on the essential role of young people in advancing democracy and ensuring that their voices are included in the decision making . Assistant Professor Jaswinder Kaur enlightened the students about working and problems of Indian democracy .

                     

2.Gandhi jayanti celebration (29-9-2023)  

The Department celebrated ‘Gandhi Jayanti. The department organized  poem recitation  and speech  competition about Gandhiji‘s life and teachings. In this event, Mrs. Jaswinder  Kaur,  Assistant professor in political science enlightened the students about  Gandhji’s ideology of non violence, civil disobedience, and  Satyagraha.

                   

3.Constitution Day (26-10-2023)

The Department celebrated Constitution Day. On this occasion group discussion of students were held on Unitary and federal features of Indian constitution.  Students expressed their different views on features of Indian constitution.

                       

4.Human Rights Day (11-12-2023)

The Department  organized slogan writing   competition on human rights. Assistant Professor Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur of political science enlightened the students about the declaration of UNO on human rights. Students made different slogan related to human rights.

                 

5.National Voters day (25-1-2024)

SVEEP group of the college organized outreach Voter Awareness Camp in collaboration with the Department of Political Science on National Voter’s Day. Surinder saini general secretary of Jalandhar welfare society and district member of SVEEP was the chief guest of the day .  tajinder Kumar, Balvir Singh, Amar Nath were the booth officers of Jalandhar central who visited. An Oath was taken in which the participants committed to exercise their right to vote and encourage others to do so .

                  

6.Essay Writing Competition (3-4-2024 

 The department  organized Essay Writing competition on the topic “Importance of Voting”. The main objective of this event is to encourage the students to cast their vote wisely, without the influence of caste, religion, gender, language etc. How they become responsible voters. In this event, Mrs. Jaswinder kaur, Assistant Professor in Political science enlightened the students about that voting help citizens become more involved in their government and kept it accountable . Aastha , Navot and Amisha secured 1st ,2nd and 3 rd position in this competition .

7. Poster making competition (10-4-2024

The Department  Organized poster making competition. The students were given information about regional and national political parties. On this occasion the Assistant Prof. Jaswinder Kaur enlightened the students about how political parties contest elections and come into power and how influenced the voters in their favour. Jaismeen, Suvekhsa secured 1^st ,and 2^ndposition Sapna and Astha secured 3^rd position in this competition .
