In
celebration of International Democracy Day, the Department organized speech competition on the topic "Why Democracy is
Considered the Best Form of Government." Participants eloquently presented
their views, emphasizing the core values of democracy, including equality,
freedom of expression, accountability, and the role of citizens in
decision-making processes. Assistant professor Jaswinder Kaur of the Political
Science Department, inaugurated the competition and spoke on the importance of
nurturing democratic values among youth. “Democracy is not just a system of
governance, but a culture that thrives on participation and respect for diverse
opinions,” Among the participants, Purnima and Sonia from BA Semester III
bagged first and second position and captivated the judges and audience with
their compelling speeches, showcasing their depth of understanding and
eloquence. Their thought-provoking presentations earned them the first and
second place in the competition, a testament to their hard work and dedication
to the topic.
